Author’s Notes

First of all, may I say that this story would not have seen the light of day without the support of the Ladies of the Shadow Gallery, who managed to reassure me that I was not in fact being a filthy heretic for delving into this.  Much love and snogs, folks.

Secondly, if you’re reading these notes before you’ve finished the story itself, bugger off right now, for here be spoilers, and therein lies the reason behind my including notes for this story where I hadn’t for the others.  So, with that in mind, scroll down for the rest…

This is, of course, the second tale I’ve penned with a devilish twist at the finish.  I’ve made the discovery that I’m rather fond of that sort of thing so, if you intend to keep reading my works, be prepared for more surprises here and there!

Now, you may ask yourself if I supplied any little hints along the way.  But of course I did:

·        References to Michael’s long black overcoat – subtle, but still intentional.

·        The Slipknot t-shirt. Slipknot are always masked on stage.

·        The Rorschach t-shirt.  Rorschach, of course, being Alan Moore’s other saturnine, maskéd mystery man.

·        His fascination with anarchism.

·        The grey cotton shirt he wears in Chapter Five.  Remember V’s fencing outfit...?

Oh, and because I am at heart a wicked little minx, I did elect to drop one Cadillac-sized clue into Chapter Four, when I idly revealed Michael’s family name at last.  “Tessitura” is Italian for “weaving”.  Sorry, couldn’t resist it…!

By the way, if you’re wondering how V came to be in possession of Daniel’s knives, all will be revealed in my next story, you may depend upon that.

I do miss Daniel.  I know that sounds bizarre, but perhaps anyone who writes fiction will understand where I’m coming from.  Daniel may not have been V, but he certainly played a pivotal role in shaping not only the man that V was, but also the man he was destined to become.

I’m going to sign off now before I become hopelessly maudlin, and that’s always a distinct possibility with me.  Let me just say that I hope you enjoyed the story, and please do come back for more.
